Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu - Martial Arts for Women

"Jiu Jitsu is my tangible, physical medium for experimenting with all parts of the self"

Emily Kwok

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a rapidly evolving women's sport, in fact in general, female contact sport is now growing at a faster rate than for men. As UFC brings more women to the forefront in martial arts, many women are looking to the craft of Jiu Jitsu as a way to participate in a sport, make themselves stronger and reconnect with their physical abilities.

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a fantastic way to keep fit and gain strength. It's a sport that does not rely on strength to be successful, rather learning to problem solve using techniques taught in a structured way. It's a great way to exercise your body and your mind, relieve stress and learn a new skill that will have versatile application throughout your life.

It's a sport where the sky is the limit in terms of competition and more and more women are pushing themselves to continue to reach their potential in this sport right through from white belt all the way up to the black belt.

For those who really like to test themselves, competing in jiu-jitsu is the ultimate!

SELF DEFENCE

Beyond the sport and fitness aspects of Brazillian Jiu-Jitsu, there are obvious advantages to learning a martial art for self-defense.

Most of our fundamentals classes begin with self-defense drills and all of the techniques have some application in real-life self-defense scenarios. While it is no longer the primary reason women are attracted to martial arts, it is a great added benefit to learning a sport such as this.
